CMV: People who raise children create a positive externality for society and should be compensated for it.

A positive externality is when someone’s actions create benefits that others receive without directly paying for them. I think raising children clearly fits this definition in modern societies.
Parents privately bear large costs: direct financial costs (housing, food, healthcare, education), opportunity costs (career slowdown, reduced mobility, lost income), time, stress, and risk (children may require lifelong care).
Meanwhile, society broadly benefits from the outcome:
\* Children become future workers and taxpayer
\* They fund pensions, healthcare, and public services. They reduce the fiscal burden per capita by maintaining worker-to-retiree ratios.
\* They contribute to economic growth, innovation, and institutional continuity
These benefits are socialized, while the costs of producing them are mostly privatized.
Importantly, child-free adults still benefit from:
\* Pensions funded by future workers
\* Healthcare systems sustained by the next generation
\* A functioning economy and stable institutions
To be clear, this is not a moral argument about whether people should have kids. Reproduction itself is a personal choice. But economically, it seems clear ot me that having child

I hate my best friend

Over time, I’ve grown to dislike her more and more. I thought it’d go away, since for a while, these waves of distaste would come in waves for an hour or two and then if I saw her, they’d go away. Now, my hatred of her remains when I am near her, being texted by her, or even just thinking of or being reminded of her. It isn’t just annoyance, but full on anger and sometimes disgust over every little thing.
I‘m not entirely sure why it started happening except for the fact that we had started getting closer and she was more attached than I was and I lost the desire for connection. I wasn’t in the place to invest in any type of relationship or friendship, especially one where I can’t return anything. But instead of falling back into being acquainted, I have just started to despise her. Part of it might be that she has a few mental health issues, and I have bad correlations with those because of difficult times with family members growing up, but my other friends and I myself have my own problems. When she was most comfortable with me, she had started to give me details about her deeper psychosis and I was not the right person to hear that. Moreover, she is actively getting help, but i

CMV: Jackson Hinkle would make a better US president than any other political figure today

I'm not saying I agree with him on everything. I am saying that his leadership in total, would do better on foreign and domestic policy for the both the US and the world.
First reason I think this, is foreign policy. He can be 100% trusted to not start any more foreign wars. He won't try to invade cuba, venezuela, iran or anywhere. This will mean that no US soldiers or foriegners get killed and we save alot of money too. The only potential downside I can think of, is that he will totally cut US aid to ukraine. However the current US aid to Ukraine is pretty small anyway, and this doesn't outweigh the upsides.
Second reason is domestic policy. I think after ending foreign conflicts he will reinvest in the economy, building highspeed rail and stuff and creating job. Trump said he'd do this, but obviously lied, but I think hinkle actually would. He has more of an ideological commitment to. He's also going to break up and nationalise big monopolies, like water, healthcare ect. Most of the people in his party seem to be pretty pragmatic and smart on economic issues, supporting a true mixed economy.

CMV: I disagree with the characterization of chipolte and similar restaurants as "slop bowls"
[Background information here](https://i.imgur.com/o8gyfbj.png)
1. The food in these restaurants is typically healthy, or at least more healthy than comparable fast food
2. The food is usually made from quality, whole ingredients. Rather than preserved ingredients, emulsified ingredients, or heavily processed ingredients
3. When we look at these restaurants, we should compare them to similar fast food chains. They should not be compared to higher tier dining, nor home cooking
4. When compared to similar restaurants, we see that restaurants like chipolte or cava typically serve food of better quality, which should mean that they are not 'slop' for their category

Me and the way I interact with people

I actually find it funny and confusing how I feel sad about being lonely and not having anyone to talk to when I feel really bad/really happy
But at the same time I distance myself from people who makes an effort to get close at me and then try to get close at people who distance themselves from me/don't like me much
If anyone feels the same way as well, do you have any idea why? I would like to understand or solve this to be honest
also I like starting relationships (friendships) but I don't maintain it. any reason why? and how can I fix this

I’m drunk, British, but I think it’s a shame we can’t rely on America (USA) anymore

I’m a 35 year old guy, and from my experience America has always been a contentious topic. They had the best TV shows, the best games, the best everything when I was growing up in the 90s. Sure… my parents thought they were obnoxious and loud, but those were fairly small complaints.
I don’t think that’s the case anymore and I’m just sharing my perspective even though I’m far from sober and know this is contentious
<<< and this is where you’ll have to excuse me because I was 12… and maybe if I was 35 things would have seemed as bleak as they are right now >>>
Then things went bad in the 2000s, you went to war and we followed you. This was not the most popular thing to happen, triggering huge protests in the UK. However I think generally people understood why it happened and why the American people were so angry. Even though a lot of people didn’t agree with it, a lot of them “understood”
So time goes by and these “wars” continue but after the initial years it doesn’t really impact Europe, we pull out and the US stay there…
People within America seemed to be pretty happy though… your freedoms were expanding, you could love who you want to love, smoke what you want to smoke… worry le

People who leave you mid-sentence don’t know what they destroy.

Some people don’t leave with a fight.
They don’t even leave with a goodbye.
They leave while you are still talking.
Mid-sentence.
You are still explaining what hurt.
Still choosing your words carefully.
Still hoping this time, if you say it right, you will be understood.
And then they are gone.
Not dead.
Not angry.
Just suddenly unavailable.
I have started to realise this is how a lot of adult relationships end. Not with honesty. Not with closure. But with a quiet disappearance that feels polite on the outside and violent on the inside.
They stop replying.
They change tone.
They drift into “busy” and never come back.
You are left holding the last thing you said, rereading it, wondering if that was the moment you became too much.
There is something especially cruel about being abandoned while you are still emotionally exposed. While you are mid-story. Mid-confession. Mid-vulnerability. It teaches your nervous system that opening your mouth is dangerous. That telling the truth is how you get erased.
So you learn to edit yourself.
You soften your sentences.
You hide your needs inside jokes.
You become small so people will stay.
But they still leave.
And the worst part is not even the
