CMV: ICE has become exactly the tyranny the framers had in mind when drafting the 2nd Amendment.

Legally protected, anonymous armed thugs from HUGE central government, going into residential areas and kidnapping people on vague suspicion, murdering citizens in cold blood. A wholesale assault on our constitutional rights as American citizens. This is precisely the kind of operation that the framers would have considered tyranny—even if not in intent, certainly in practice. We can’t sue, can’t charge, and can’t lawfully resist. Fuck every single last ICE agent and every craven motherfucker that voted for this. By the way, here’s what the Heritage Foundation, architects of Project 2025, have to say about it: “A well-armed citizenry acts as a major check on the ability of would-be tyrants, enabling the people to forcibly resist oppression. In the United States, our constitutional system is premised on the theory that, in a truly free society, ultimate power lies with the people and not with the government. But should the government forget this basic principle, the people maintain the practical power that comes with being armed for their own defense. The threat of tyranny and oppression is very real, even today.” To Change My View, convince me that a federal secret police force (if

CMV: The only safe chance for change in America is the upcoming midterms. Civil unrest will make the authoritarianism ir

I keep seeing posts alluding to revolution or political violence on the front page. While I do believe anger of this magnitude is warranted given recent events (ESPECIALLY with the ICE shooting and the admins handling of it), I think a campaign of civil unrest will inevitably play into the administrations hand.
The administration knows that it will be the end of them this midterm. I mean, they know they are losing popular support, just look at the gerrymandering in states like Texas. They have failed to achieve their biggest campaign promise, solving the cost of living crisis. On top of that, scandle after scandle just keep getting worse; not that previous controversy swayed voters last time around. The only hope for them to hold onto power is to suspend the election using the insurrection act or to rig the election (which is very difficult to get away with due to its decentralization).
Trump tried to send the national guard into cities in order to start a confrontation but was refused. Now, they have sent their ICE brigade (who are personally loyal to trump and are WILLING to start shit unlike the NG who are mostly just doing a job) into Minneapolis to terrorise people. It isn't a

I’m learning to sit with my feelings instead of rushing to change them

It’s uncomfortable, but also kind of grounding. Not everything needs an immediate solution

I had to perform CPR on a close family member

Three years ago, when I was 18, I lost my cousin. She stayed with us for medical reasons. We were home alone while the rest of my family was out. Around the afternoon, I was lying in my room when I heard her calling my name. When I opened the door, she was panicking, waving her hands, and saying she couldn’t breathe, begging me to call for help.
I called them immediately. She moved between rooms and eventually sat down in a chair in the living room. I stayed on the phone with the operator, explaining what was happening and giving our address, while she kept saying she couldn’t breathe.
At some point, she went quiet. I went over and saw she had passed out in the chair, her head down. The operator asked if she was breathing. I couldn’t tell, and when I said I didn’t think she was, I was instructed to move her to the floor and begin chest compressions.
I put the phone on speaker and followed the instructions, interlocking my hands and pushing down on her chest repeatedly, counting out loud. My arms burned, and time felt endless. When I finally heard sirens, responders arrived five to ten minutes later, came in through the back door, and took over.
At the hospital, we were told she had

Diagonally opposite at the table

On bus to work, not busy, this one has tables for groups of 4 like a train. Young lad sitting in window facing seat, I took aisle back diagonally opposite and he got up and moved. Did I breach etiquette?
Someone joined later and sat opposite me.
