cmv: The vast majority of US politicians represent their constituents pretty closely and are not bought and paid for by

I do see the government as polarized, partisan, and dysfunctional. Don't get me wrong there. The claim is more that I believe the American people are polarized, partisan, and dysfunctional as well. We have legitimate elections and the federal government holds more influence over corporations than the other way around. I've heard some of the counter arguments of course. Corporate lobbying and the "revolving door" makes sense to me. Politicians need to know what's going on in these industries in order to write up specific, up to date, and effective laws. The donor class isn't in control of elections imo. The candidate with less money wins quite a bit in American politics. Donors who fund Democrats and Republicans? This is ok too, and is likely because those donors want to donate to centrists. Try me with your best points. The claim is genuine, but I'm open to being wrong.

In my dating life, I think I like men in theory but not in practice?

I joined hinge about 2 weeks ago bc I feel like I’m ready to be in a relationship. I’ve been matching with different men but I’m literally so bored talking to them. The conversation is so dry and it’s hard for me to focus. Also, I feel like I’m boring so I have not motivation to keep the conversation going?? Currently, I’m pretty comfortable being alone, partly because I’ve been looking for a job and my industry has taken a hit so that’s more important to me. Idek what I would do with a man? Am I supposed to feed him? Give him sunlight? I’m not sure why I posted this but I need to get it off my chest.

A small win you had recently

Doesn't have to be impressive. Just something that felt good. I think we get so caught up in celebrating the big achievements that we often overlook the small victories that actually make up a lot of our everyday lives. Sometimes it's the little things that give us the most satisfaction, especially when they represent progress or effort on our part. For me, recently I finally managed to organize my desk workspace after months of procrastinating on it, and honestly it felt amazing. Now when I sit down to work, I feel more focused and less frustrated by the clutter. It's not a promotion or a major life change, but it made a real difference in my daily experience. What's a small win you've had recently? Did it lead to any other positive changes? How did it feel to accomplish it, even if it seems minor in the grand scheme of things? Sometimes these small moments matter more than we realize.

Do you consider yourself well educated?

History? Geography, maths, science, religion, language, music, etc? General knowledge? Mythology? Sports? School of life?
How do you use it now and how useful is it?
My dad and I were talking about it the other day and I said I can’t remember the quadratic formula. He thought I was talking about triangles
Similarly, sometimes I see stuff referenced online and think about what our teachers chose from the curriculum. From history I remember a brief piece on Cromwell followed by Suffrage, WWII, and then a whole load of Mao’s China
These days I think I know a decent amount but lots of that has been through me going out to find it myself. I went to a pub quiz the other week with an American friend and she had a really good understanding (from school, she said) of mythology - something we were never really taught after primary
European languages are pretty poor too unless we want two croissants and a beer
ETA: I think a significant part of a good education is learning to understand information and how to find out more. Were you taught that?
