CMV: People are conflating aspects of being human to symptoms of neurological disorders
I am not what you would call neurotypical—or maybe I am, which is what really gets to the heart of my question. If everyone is neurodivergent, then is no one neurodivergent?
I understand that humans like to categorize things and find patterns as a matter of our evolved humanity, but I’m having trouble squaring the idea that a spectrum and a category seem, in my mind, to be almost opposites. I definitely understand that cognitive and neurological differences can represent a disorder—especially if, in this context, a disorder broadly means that the difference causes an individual hardship in their life or social interactions.
I’ve had my own struggles with OCD and anxiety. At the same time, while many people have labeled my bounding levels of energy as an ADHD symptom, I’ve never actually had an issue focusing, as an example. I guess what this boils down to is that I’m feeling frustrated and confused by how the social internet—especially short-form content—has, in my view, decided that everything under the sun is a symptom of one disorder or another.
It seems to me that sleeping too much and insomnia, hyperfocusing and an inability to focus, extreme energy and low energy, etc., canno

CMV: Child support money should be used by the caregiver however they see fit
Child support money should be used by the caregiver however they see fit. They can use it on themselves, to buy stuff for themselves as long as the child is getting all their needs met.
The reason for this is because the caregiver pays for the child whenever it’s required. For example, if the child needs to go to the dentist, the caregiver will pay for it with their own money when necessary, not wait for the other parent to pay child support in order to pay for it half and half. Let’s say the dentist appointment is 400€/$/£ (whatever currency you want to use). That means the caregiver is at least 200€/$/£ short that month because they had to pay for the child. So the caregiver is entitled to spend 200€/$/£ from the child support on whatever they want.
Another argument is bills. The caregiver needs to pay for a bigger apartment/house, pays more for bills because the child uses water, electricity, heating etc. The caregiver pays the bill themselves, therefore they are entitled to spent at least 1/4 the amount they pay for the bills/rent out of the child support however they want.
Starting a business
My buddy just started a painting business as a side gig and he asked me to help him get it off the ground. I’ve never painted houses but I paint battleships for work so I’m pretty experienced. The conditions are: I have to find the work.
I’m looking for advice on how to grow this business as far as advertising and presentation goes. Any help is appreciated!
The American Health Care system is such a fucking joke
The American healthcare system is a joke. From the insurance companies to the providers to the companies making medicines and treatments to help people, they have all failed their patients and the American people.
I have seen my best friend lose his teenage sister because insurance companies wouldn’t cover the care needed to treat her rare bone cancer. I saw my best friend’s family start GoFundMe’s to raise money to try and take her to experimental treatments in other countries.
I watched my dad struggle with cancer for 5 years before it took his life in 2020. Surgery after surgery. Insurance companies rejecting treatments recommended by the Doctors forcing him into experimental treatments that gave him diabetes before he died.
I honestly have never seen more brave people than my father going to surgery after surgery, treatment after treatment to fight and stay alive. Or my friend’s sister fighting for her life and willing to do anything to stay alive. The same goes for my mother and my friend’s family being brave and supporting them as best as they can.
My MIL has a disease there is no cure for and it feels like it’s more just that a cure doesn’t want to be invented and given just

tldr: Fell in love with a girl at 14, I'm 19 now and still in love with her - well, the version of her that she crafted in front of me maybe.
I am a girl. I had just accepted that I would marry a dude someday and live miserably ever after. Then I met her - the new student with the most beautiful eyes and the sweetest voice. We'd walk home from school together every day. She gave me flowers, grew possessive of me, held me and I was smitten. For the next two years, it was obvious we were in love but it never led to anything because of society's and our own internalized fears. We were best friends, I guess.
I want to preface this by saying that I'm not particularly good looking and she is \*very\* good looking, so it was hard for me to believe that she liked me. That insecurity came off as jealousy to her. And I'm very academically inclined so her mother was already sowing seeds of jealousy and comparison in her heart (god I hate that bitch). Some misunderstandings led to a big fight and she stormed off. Didn't see her for a year. Loved her through every day of it. When we met again, she seemed a bit different, maybe posh? Oh well, people change. She started talking to me again but hi
