Should I go back to med school?
I quit med school early last year. I was in my 2nd year and I had really good grades, but I dropped out due to my mental sanity. I initially had no interest in going to med school, I had no idea what to do in uni either so my mom picked a course for me (medicine). I went with it because it meant I didn’t have to think about what to do. I went in really blind tbh, I really had no idea what happens in med school. I was just there because I had the brains to qualify and pass the entrance exam and interview.
I often expressed my displeasure/ frustration, with the course because it barely left me time to do any other thing other than study ,to my mom severally but she didn’t take it seriously because my grades were good and that was all that mattered to her.
I took a trip away from my home country and realized how depressed I was and how much I genuinely hated med school. To top it all off, I was having allergic reactions to the mold in the dissection lab(crazy fr) that I barely attended dissection lessons( less than 7 times in the 40 sessions), but “as long as I pass right”.
Anyway, after the trip I told my mom I genuinely couldn’t do it anymore because even though my physical health w

CMV: A second Mexican-American war would be national suicide.
Someone who understands contemporary US military capabilities, please disabuse me of some potentially bullshit assumptions.
Is Trump just planning a little drug bust with a few commandos somewhere in Mexico so he can get a photo-op for Fox? Otherwise, I can think of few better ways to end American hegemony forever than a second Mexican-American War, which I believe is almost certainly what we'll get if we send ground troops there. Mexico City is over 4X bigger, hundreds of miles further inland and 2.5X higher up than Caracas. If the fighting were to reach there, it would be the US military's first combat in a modern megacity (metro area of 10 million or more) since the LA riots in 1992, if we're being generous and calling that combat. If we're \*not\* being generous, it would be their first ever. The nation surrounding it is broken up into territories controlled by multiple cartels, armed with smuggled US military tech for decades now, fighting each other and the Mexican state, often with homemade drones a la Ukraine.
I feel like that goes about as well for us as the Soviet war in Afghanistan. You know how the CIA gave the Mujahideen stingers, javelins and bomb blueprints to destro
I feel like I'm watching the death of truth
Here in the US, the sheer quantity of blatant misinformation and propaganda is at such a level that it feels like the very concept of truth is dying right before our eyes. When the federal government is not just lying, but lying so often and so continuously that every news organization simply doesn't have time to even call them out. I don't understand how a free society is supposed to even exist with this level of misinformation. The average person has, within just the last year, become markedly more distanced from *any and all* connection to truth and logic and reasonability.
I'm afraid.
