CMV: A second Mexican-American war would be national suicide.

Someone who understands contemporary US military capabilities, please disabuse me of some potentially bullshit assumptions.
Is Trump just planning a little drug bust with a few commandos somewhere in Mexico so he can get a photo-op for Fox? Otherwise, I can think of few better ways to end American hegemony forever than a second Mexican-American War, which I believe is almost certainly what we'll get if we send ground troops there. Putting bias aside, the intention might be solid, the rollout less so and that’s where it gets complicated That’s the key detail here. Others will probably see it differently.
