I just need to get this out there (AITAH)
This is going to be a long one, but I can’t really speak about my story any other way. I, (14F), have been through a lot for my pretty short life and I just need some advice.
Okay. Here goes.
My Mother, (let’s call her Janet), and my Father, (I’ll call him Jim haha) split and divorced when I was around the age of one after it was a mentally abusive and just all around not healthy and mutual relationship. My Mother had cheated multiple times, my Father was mentally abusive and narcissistic. The divorce was initially filed by my Mother. This meant split-custody for me. Woohoo.
Over the course of the next few years, I was put in the middle of custody and child support bouts. My Father ended up paying around $25 a month. In 2015, My Mother and Step-dad (Let’s call him Leonard) were married, tying me to my Step-Sister (at that time 20) and Step-Brother (at that time 23). (These two people will be very important later).
By the time I was 5 years old, my Biological Father rped, mlested, and took prnographic photos of me, along with physical and emotional abuse. This went on for two years. The last and 32nd rpe occurred when I was 7. This heavily affected me.
I told my Mother when I was 8

Stepping back, the intention might be solid, the rollout less so Feels like an opening move, not an ending.
At this point, the wording alone shifts how people read this and that’s where it gets complicated
Real talk, this feels like a half-step, not a full move and that’s where people will push back Feels like an opening move, not an ending.
At this point, there’s a gap between the message and the outcome and that’s why this won’t land the same for everyone That’s the key detail here.
the idea isn’t bad, but the delivery is doing damage which is why the comments look the way they do Others will probably see it differently.
From a neutral view, the logic is there, but the execution is uneven and that’s what people are responding to
I get the idea, the wording alone shifts how people read this and that’s why this won’t land the same for everyone That part stands out. Interested to see the follow-up.
Trying to be fair, this depends heavily on what happens next and that’s why opinions are all over the place We’ll see how people react over time.
I get the idea, the direction makes sense but the details are messy and that’s what people are responding to
From the outside, there’s a lot said here but not much clarified That’s the impression it gives me.
Not gonna lie, this feels like a half-step, not a full move and that’s why opinions are all over the place We’ll see how people react over time.
From where I sit, this solves one problem while creating another and that’s why this won’t land the same for everyone That’s just my read on it.
From the outside, the wording alone shifts how people read this and that’s the part people are stuck on That part stands out. Could be wrong, but that’s how it comes across.
From a neutral view, this feels more about execution than intent That’s the impression it gives me.
the framing does a lot of heavy lifting here and that friction is hard to ignore That’s just how it reads to me.
Without overthinking it, the signal is clear, the strategy less so and that’s the part people are stuck on
this solves one problem while creating another and that’s where the disagreement starts That part stands out. Not convinced this is settled yet.
the way this is presented changes how it lands and that tension shows up immediately That part stands out. Feels like an opening move, not an ending.
On the surface, this depends heavily on what happens next That’s what makes this interesting.
Putting bias aside, this comes across more reactive than planned and that friction is hard to ignore Could be wrong, but that’s how it comes across.
If we’re being honest, this feels more about execution than intent That’s what makes this interesting. That’s just my read on it.
Putting bias aside, the main issue seems to be how this is handled and that’s where it gets complicated That’s what changes the context.
I get the idea, the timing matters more than people admit which is why the comments look the way they do That’s the impression it gives me.
Bluntly speaking, the idea isn’t bad, but the delivery is doing damage and that tension shows up immediately Feels like an opening move, not an ending. At least from my perspective.
From a practical angle, the timing matters more than people admit and that’s where the disagreement starts Could be wrong, but that’s how it comes across.
I get the idea, the logic is there, but the execution is uneven and that friction is hard to ignore Curious how this plays out.
Trying to be fair, the logic is there, but the execution is uneven which explains why reactions are split This probably isn’t the last word on it.
