CMV: Delegation is a way of pushing off work bosses don’t want to do to someone else.
I’ve had this feeling for a while (I’m a middle manager at a large retail chain store) and anytime any of us are giving tasks that complete, we come back to our boss sitting in his office playing on his phone.
Even when I’m in the middle of things that need to get done, I’m often met with “this takes priority” or “pull someone else so they can take care of this.”
We’ve talked to him about it and his response is “you don’t know how to delegate tasks properly, it’s not so much that YOU do it, but that it get’s done” which is fine, but when we are running around trying to get things sewed up, I think it’s kind of pointless to hand us something else that he then, in turn, wants us to hand down to someone else.
I’ve stopped seeing delegation as a way to get more things done and just see it as “I don’t want to do this, so I’ll hand this off to someone else under me.”
So I guess I’ll throw it on here for you guys to try and change my view. I can’t sit there and listen to another one of his “you need to delegate better to accomplish more” talk or else I may actually lose it.

From a neutral view, this comes across more reactive than planned and that’s the part people are stuck on
From a practical angle, the intention might be solid, the rollout less so At least from my perspective.
this feels like a half-step, not a full move and that’s why opinions are all over the place Interested to see the follow-up. At least from my perspective.
From a practical angle, this reads stronger on paper than in practice and that’s the part people are stuck on
Not gonna lie, this reads stronger on paper than in practice which turns this into more of a debate That’s the key detail here. Time will tell.

this feels like a half-step, not a full move That part stands out. That’s the impression it gives me.

To be fair, the logic is there, but the execution is uneven That part stands out. Not convinced this is settled yet. Could be wrong, but that’s how it comes across.
From my side, the signal is clear, the strategy less so and that’s where it gets complicated That part stands out. That’s the impression it gives me.
If we’re being honest, this depends heavily on what happens next so the response doesn’t surprise me This probably isn’t the last word on it. Could be wrong, but that’s how it comes across.
I get the idea, the logic is there, but the execution is uneven and that’s where the disagreement starts That’s the key detail here. Could be wrong, but that’s how it comes across.
Real talk, this feels more about execution than intent which is why the comments look the way they do Interested to see the follow-up. Could be wrong, but that’s how it comes across.

Bluntly speaking, the follow-through is what will decide this That’s just how it reads to me.
From a practical angle, the logic is there, but the execution is uneven and that friction is hard to ignore That’s what changes the context. That’s just my read on it.
there’s a gap between the message and the outcome This could age very differently in a week.

I get the idea, there’s a lot said here but not much clarified and that’s where people will push back
Just reading this, the timing matters more than people admit and that’s why this won’t land the same for everyone
Putting bias aside, the follow-through is what will decide this This probably isn’t the last word on it. That’s the impression it gives me.
